Two Vehicle Crash With Injuries.

On January 22, 2024, at approximately 3:16 pm, members of emergency services responded to the area of 5498 E. State Road 56, in reference to a crash involving two vehicles.

At the scene, deputies determined that John Cornett, age 45 of Austin, Indiana was traveling west on State Road 56. Cornett was driving a 2004 Mitsubishi Eclipse and crossed into the eastbound lane of travel and struck a 2013 Peterbilt truck driven by Cameron McKinley, age 31 of Salem, Indiana.

Cornett was transported to University of Louisville Hospital by the Washington County Ambulance Service for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

McKinley was transported by personal vehicle to Saint Vincent Hospital, in Salem, where he was treated and released.

The crash remains under investigation.
