DETAILS:

At approximately 7:54 pm on Thursday, September 14, 2023 an accident occurred in the parking lot of Casey's Gas Station in Pekin.

A white Dodge pickup truck, driven by Attis Hatcher, 32 years old of Pekin pulled away from a gas pump as James Brown, 59 years old of Pekin, was walking through the parking lot towards the gas pumps. Hatcher did not yield to Brown as he was walking and he struck Brown with his truck.

Brown was transported to St. Vincent Salem Hospital by the Washington County Ambulance Service for treatment of his injuries.

It was discovered during the investigation that Hatcher's driver's license was suspended with a prior conviction and that he did not have insurance on the vehicle. Hatcher was arrested and charged with Operating While Suspended Resulting in Bodily Injury, a Level 6 Felony and Operating Without Financial Responsibility With a Prior Conviction, a Class C Misdemeanor.

All subjects are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
