Driver injured in a single vehicle accident.

On July 21, 2023, at approximately 2:35 pm, members of the Washington County EMS, Gibson Township Volunteer Fire Department and the Washington County Sheriffs Department responded to a single motor vehicle crash on State Road 39 with injuries.

Edwin Deweese, age 42 of Austin, Indiana was identified as the driver. Deweese said he was traveling south on State Road 39, when the passenger side of his vehicle dropped off the right side of the roadway. The vehicle slid down a short, steep slope, hit an embankment and overturned onto its top before coming to a rest. Deweese received non-life threatening injuries.

The accident is being investigated by Deputy Tory Hildreth.
