DETAILS:

A 4-year-old child who was struck by a vehicle Wednesday night is being treated at Norton Children's Hospital in Louisville.

 

Sheriff Brent Miller said the accident occurred at a private residence on Horner's Chapel Road, Fredericksburg, and was reported at 9:16 p.m. The Washington County Dispatch Center received a 911 call stating that a child had been struck by a vehicle in the driveway of the residence.

 

Witnesses stated that the little boy ran toward the vehicle, which was being driven by a juvenile family member, slipped, and fell under the vehicle. The left rear tire ran over the child.

 

The child was treated by members of the Washington County Ambulance Service staff and Posey Township VFD First Responders, prior to being transported by air ambulance to Norton Children's.

 

The incident remains under investigation.
