SUSPECT WHO FLED FOLLOWING DOMESTIC DISPUTE REMAINS AT LARGE
Washington County, Indiana (February 27, 2023) - A Pekin man who fled a residence Monday morning following a physical domestic dispute remains at large. Sheriff Brent Miller said Joshua Day, 34, was last seen in the area of Pixley Knob Road in Clark County.
The domestic dispute, which occurred at a home on Hickory Grove Road, involved weapons. Day fled the scene with firearms and is believed to still be armed.
Sheriff Miller said the Washington County Dispatch Center received a call Monday morning reporting the incident. Officers were advised Day had made threats to harm himself or anyone who came after him.
He fled the home on foot traveling toward a wooded area nearby. This area of the county is heavily forested.
When officers arrived, individuals at the residence were evacuated and the property was searched.
Troopers with the Indiana State Police arrived to assist with the search of the property. In addition to a search warrant, an arrest warrant was obtained for Day. It was confirmed Day was no longer on the property.
Members of the Indiana State Police SWAT Team and members of the Clark County EMA Drone Team assisted as well. There was also air surveillance provided by the Clark County Sheriff's Department. Officers continued their search until learning Day had left the area by vehicle. They later learned he was last seen in Clark County.
Day was last seen wearing a black hoodie, blue jeans and white shoes. He stands 5'-8" tall and has a thin build, weighing 130 pounds. Day has blue eyes and brown hair.
Anyone with information concerning Day's whereabouts is asked to call the Washington County Sheriff's Department at 812-883-5999. Deputy Hildreth is the lead investigating officer on the case.
Sheriff Miller advised anyone who might encounter Day should not approach him.
All suspects are considered innocent until if and when convicted in a court of law.
