Deputies arrived on the scene and found a semi-tractor and trailer on its side. Investigators determined the driver was traveling east on Millers Sawmill Road, when the semi-tractor and trailer full of soybeans, left the south side of the roadway and then overturned on the embankment.

The driver was identified as Kenny Simpson, age 75 of Palmyra, Indiana. Simpson was transported from the scene to St. Vincent Hospital in Salem, by members of the Washington County Ambulance Service. Simpson was then transferred to University of Louisville Hospital by air medical transport.

Sgt. Matt Hein is the investigating officer and was assisted by the Pekin Town Marshal Jeff Thomas, Process Server Mark Blackman and members of the Salem Fire Department.
